Eyes in the Eyes
Saturday, June 25th, 2011My friend runs a gasoline station in behalf of her parents and it is their family business. She goes to the station from eight in the morning till five in the afternoon and is in charge of the stations operation. One of her duty is to make sure that they meet the requirement of the brand name, by ensuring that the pump attendants are alert at work and wearing the proper uniform. She also makes sure that the station is presentable and clean and has enough space for all the services they offer like car washing and other more. You would know that the cash flow is doing fine if you are not missing a few hundreds or thousands, and that is just one of the task that she handles in the station. The station hired a third party bookkeeping service for yearly computation of taxes, in that way the chance of missing the due dates and paying penalties is lesser. Hand in hand with her younger sister, they make sure that the business runs well. A lot of gasoline station, recently have been turning up in the city. They all come in different names, unlike before where there are only three gas station names that this country has known, and that is Petron, Shell and Caltex. With the entrance of these small players, the competition has become challenging, which I think is a good idea. Times like this, it is the consumer that reaps the benefits, services becomes better and choices becomes varied. Competition in the gasoline industry is not usually a good thing, because companies have to work harder to attract customers, and usually if not all the time, its the margin of profit that will be sacrificed first.
